As part of our commitment to helping Community and Town Councils across Wales promote equality, inclusion and safer communities, we recently hosted a webinar with Haverfordwest Town Council showcasing their Anti-Racism Action Plan. The session explored their practical steps, challenges and successes in developing meaningful, sustainable change.

We’ve included a range of resources below, including an Anti-Racism Action Plan guide packed with practical information, helpful links, and clear steps councils can take to embed anti-racist practice locally. These materials are designed to help Councils build confidence, strengthen inclusive practice, and take meaningful, achievable steps towards fairer and more welcoming communities across Wales.

We have produced a Practice Development Note on powers available to Councils. Look at section 3.2 of Practice Development Note 6 for important advice about using the correct powers. Ask your local Development Officer for further advice.

Civility & Respect Pledge

One Voice Wales, in association with the National Association of Local Councils (NALC) and the Society of Local Council Clerks (SLCC), has launched a new campaign to encourage Community and Town Councils in Wales to pledge to a new Civility and Respect initiative.

By signing the Civility & Respect Pledge, your council demonstrates its commitment to treating councillors, clerks, employees, members of the public, representatives of partner organisations, and volunteers with civility and respect in their roles.

We encourage councils who sign the pledge to use it as a photo opportunity to share within their local media and bring it to the attention of local residents.
