Biodiversity Training and Webinars
Biodiversity Training and Webinars
Regular upskilling and training is essential for effective Councils. All Councillors need to be aware of the importance of biodiversity and their duty under Section 6. To help your Council develop the knowledge and skills required we run regular webinars and training sessions.
Training Modules
We offer 3 modules specific to biodiversity as part of our training menu at One Voice Wales. These are delivered by our team of excellent Training Associates. These courses are very popular so book now!
Please see our training pages for more information and details of how to book.
Module 25 & 26
Biodiversity basics Part 1 and 2. A two-part course teaching Councils the basics of biodiversity, nature recovery and ecology need to make good decisions and effective Biodiversity Action Plans. It follows the same ‘5 pillars of biodiversity’ as introduced in the guidance document. After attending this course, Councils will be better placed to write robust BAPs and Section 6 Reports and meet that Section 6 duty of biodiversity and ecosystem resilience.
Produced in partnership with Cynnal Cymru.

Module 27
Nature Project Management – A course delivered over 1 session that demonstrates the basics of project management in the context of nature and environmental projects. Handouts will include a project checklist for Councils to help them manage projects in line with Biodiversity principles, on time and within budget. It is hoped that all Councils that attend this course will have already attended the Biodiversity Basics Course first.
Produced in partnership with Catrin Evans Consultancy.

Webinars
We run regular webinars on a variety of topics, so please keep checking back for our latest events.
One Voice Wales – Section 6 Workshops
Following our successful series of Section 6 webinars in April we are now offering your Council an opportunity to attend one of our Section 6 Report writing workshops. We will be running six workshops over 3 weeks, and these will be held online via Zoom.
During each online workshop, Councils will have an opportunity to ask questions, share best practice and work with our Biodiversity Officers on their own Section 6 Reports.
Working in small groups we will discuss actions that can contribute to each objective and help you complete an engaging and comprehensive report.
Numbers in each workshop will be capped at a maximum of 20 Councils, to allow each Council to get the most out of the session.
Two members of each Council are welcome to attend the same workshop.
Please only attend one workshop per Council. This will allow as many Councils as possible to attend.
